This website is an archive of Junko Sophie Kakizaki’s artistic works.

I explore how cultural beauty is embodied —
between Japan and the world,
through ritual, gesture, and material.

Through flowers, costume jewelry, and space,
these works examine wearable and spatial aesthetics
as expressions of culture lived through the body.

They mark a quiet passage
toward my next form of expression.

 

I am currently moving into a new body of work
centered on Japanese textiles and hand-painted dye.
